Flex Wheeler finds an issue with current fitness approaches

In one of the latest episodes of NASM CPT Podcast with Rick Richey, Flex Wheeler was featured. Along with talking about several other aspects of his life and career, the bodybuilding legend also pointed out why he gets embarrassed at times. When Richey said, “Physical activity is a solve… It is medicine.”?Wheeler pointed out something slightly unusual. He stated how people can always play basketball, or go on a walk with their dogs as a part of their daily physical activities too. However, what he witnesses at the gym bothers him somehow.

When he mentioned that he sees people with no form or technique doing intense fitness regimes, Wheeler feels a pang of embarrassment. He remarked how every time he goes to the gym he can spot, “Everybody and Their Grandmothers Doing Deadlifts.”

Although Flex Wheeler is largely known as Sultan of Symmetry, that is not the only nickname he got. Shocking as it is, Wheeler’s known first name, “Flex” is also another nickname he got because of a certain quality.

The real reason behind Wheeler’s nickname

In the same podcast, when Richey asked Wheeler to introduce himself, he used his legal first name, Kenneth. However, as the episode proceeded, they started talking about the origin of the nickname “Flex”. In reply, Wheeler stated, ?People making fun of me saying I am tiny I guess I always walked around you know like I?m a little big man ?It was a derogatory name.? Then he told Rick Richey that he got the name “Flex”, because of his flexibility.
