Heath’s emotions instantly changed, and in a low tone, he said,” I remember. So my parents divorced, like when I was three, and every kid wants his father around and he was quite distant,” reminiscing about his real dad. His mother remarried a guy who retired from the army. He then spent his entire childhood with his stepfather.
Heath talked about his stepfather, recalling, “He was a great guy; you know, he treated me great; you know, he wasn’t abusive or anything; if anything, he was very supportive of my mother, who was a working woman. Now, she had her own career.” He mentioned his stepfather being a very systematic man. He provided for Heath and wanted him to be smart and do what every student does.
The 44-year-old former bodybuilder shared that his stepfather didn’t go to any of the games or track events with him in his childhood, which is an important part of anyone’s childhood to go to games with their father. The Mr. Olympia champion revealed that once he grew up he sort of built a relationship with his biological father.
Heath’s real dad passed away 10 years ago. He posted a heartwarming Instagram post on his dad’s 72nd birthday.
