Bodybuilding does not always have a clean slate and a good impression on other people outside the sport. With recurring ste** usage news and even deaths, the netizens are apprehensive about this industry. However, Marc Lobliner has always been a fan of bodybuilding and is a veteran bodybuilder himself. After quitting in 2013 for health and family reasons, he returned and got his IFBB pro card recently. He addressed how some people think that bodybuilding is not a healthy sport and explained his point of view to give some reassurance to the nonbelievers.
The champion did not insult or call them out: rather he explained why people think so and also justified how bodybuilding is helpful if done in a controlled way. Let’s see what else he had to say about bodybuilding and how people perceive it.
Marc Lobliner defends bodybuilding

The Instagram video showed Lobliner speaking about how a lot of youngsters see bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts and their muscles. They see the “monstrosity” of it all; however, they do not see it admiringly. Lobliner pointed out, “When people see bodybuilders honestly that’s what they see, people are like ‘you’re on steroids bodybuilder cannot breathe, you cannot walk’.” Yet he also said that any sport in extreme is not good and said, “even water is toxic when over-consumed.”

People assume that bodybuilders are unhealthy and cannot do day-to-day activities like others. The IFBB pro went on to explain that he was also a professional bodybuilder and that he had no problems with his health. Lobliner never had to get a C-pap, never had problems breathing, and his heart rate when resting was 49.
Not only did he explain it in the video but he wrote a huge note in the captions talking about how he understands why bodybuilders are stereotyped. Lobliner commented, “Playing in the NFL or even MLS will leave most players with brain damage and body pains that last a lifetime.” His point was that at the extremes of any sport, there is always a chance of risk, whether it be NFL or bodybuilding. The bodybuilding champion was not denying that many deaths happen in this industry, but they are also good examples such as himself and Stan Efferding, who also has a healthy heart rate and proper blood pressure.
So according to the champion, everything depends on whether it’s done with proper control and precision no matter what sport it is. There was also another instance where he broke the stereotype that heavy workouts are harmful.

The IFBB Pro coach, mentioned in his Instagram post that some people do not suggest doing deadlifts. He also included how people consider heavy rows and isolated exercises especially for the back, to be the only way of building a superhuman back. He admitted, “They’re all correct (except for the guy crapping on deadlifts, LOL).”
He pointed out how much he loves doing deadlifts and heavy workouts for his back. He was in the support of training the back as hard as possible and said that it was healthy in the long run. The champion always promotes healthy muscle buildup and exercise and also talks about the ill effects of consuming things like alcohol.
