While it might look like Arnold Schwarzenegger has an easy life now, the truth of the matter is that the seven times Mr. Olympia champion faced a lot of difficulties before reaching this level. Coming from a small village in Austria, the veteran bodybuilder has seen a lot of tough days growing up. Additionally, his Austrian accent made it really tough for him to get good roles initially when he entered the realm of Hollywood.

Due to his thick accent, people often told him that he was not good at acting. Moreover, they believed that his big, muscular frame was also not appropriate for the time. Nonetheless, Schwarzenegger continued to work hard and proved his mettle, establishing himself as one of the greatest action movie stars of all time.

Schwarzenegger made his debut in Hollywood in 1974, the same year when he won his first Olympia title. Due to his past ventures in the realm of bodybuilding, he had a huge, muscular frame. He revealed during his time at the Graham Norton Show that he often heard people saying that his bodybuilder frame would not be appropriate. Moreover, his accent was also a point of concern, as it would be problematic for most Americans to understand.

Schwarzenegger revealed that people often pointed towards his thick accent and told him things like, “American people don’t accept it. Other people don’t accept it. So forget about it plus your body. Look at you. You weigh 250 pounds. I mean, this is now the seventies. This is not the 60s where they made Hercules movies. Now it’s Dustin Hoffman, and it is Al Pacino, Woody Allen. Those are the s*x symbols.”
