Those in the fitness industry often cite scientific studies while they give out tips, to ensure backing for their claims. However, at times, people tweak studies just so that they can increase their social media engagement. This recently happened in a podcast where a nutrition coach gave unsettling results about having oats over eggs, guiding fitness enthusiasts in the wrong direction.

But the legend of bodybuilding and the seven-time Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger is here to guide you on the right path. The Austrian Oak shared the results from research, with evidence backing up his claims. While doing this, Arnie also delved deeper into what the nutrition coach talked about earlier.

In the recent edition of the Arnold’s Pump Club newsletter, Arnie talked about how a nutrition coach, “Glucose Goddess,” shared a study highlighting that oats can cause a “glucose spike.” She further added that if you switch from oats to eggs, this decreases the efficiency of your inflammatory markers and reduces the chances of developing a heart disease. However, the Terminator didn’t agree with her. “One problem: this isn’t true and is not what that study found,” he wrote.

Arnie shared a study done by Dr. Idz and his team which found that switching between eggs and oatmeal has no impact on your body. They found that oatmeal “didn’t change weight, body fat, cholesterol, HbA1c, or the primary markers of inflammation. In other words, eating oatmeal was just as good for your heart as eggs.”

The Austrian Oak revealed that most studies disclosed that eating oats has benefits of its own for your body. “Eating oats is associated with lower heart disease, lower cholesterol, lower body weight, and better overall health,” he wrote. Furthermore, a result of 21 random studies highlighted that oatmeal can reduce inflammation, and one study found that it also helps in lowering blood sugar levels for type-2 diabetic patients.

However, the Austrian Oak advises that one should avoid oats if their body doesn’t respond well to them. Earlier, Arnie had shared a unique recipe that included eggs. However, he had also cautioned that people might need to consult their doctor before following it.

The Terminator adds a secret ingredient to his protein shake

In a previous edition of the former Governor of California’s newsletter, he revealed the recipe he follows for his protein shakes. Arnie adds his secret ingredient, “eggs, to his protein shakes, making them more beneficial. “1-2 scoops of plant-protein powder, 5g of Creatine, 2 oz of Cherry juice, 8 oz of Almond milk, 1 Banana, 1 whole egg,” says the Terminator.

The addition of eggs to your protein shake might sound weird, which is why the Austrian Oak advises everyone to consult the recipe with their doctors for a green flag. “We’re not doctors, so consult with yours if you want to include this in your drink because we need to warn you about the risk of foodborne illness. But when you go, make sure you tell them Arnold sent you,” explains Arnie.
