Bodybuilding and weight loss. Those are two terms that aren’t conventionally used together. Well, not unless you’re Kali Muscle. After a near-fatal heart attack brought on by the use of PEDs two years ago, he vowed to clean out his system. And that complex journey has led him to one of simplest phrases known to us: An apple a day keeps the doctor away. 

Well, in Muscle’s case, it’s 10. However, this newfound love for fruits that the 48-year-old has hasn’t resonated with the fitness community. From consuming watermelons to eating only pineapples, Kali Muscle has now resorted to apples. Having started this ‘apples only’ diet on the first day of 2024, he uploaded a Day 13 update on YouTube, revealing a jaw-dropping fact about his journey.

It’s quite evident from his frequent Instagram and YouTube updates that he’s lost quite a lot of weight, but who knew he’d shed nearly 100 pounds, going from 270 to an incredible 176?

With every new update he posts, the fitness and bodybuilding community’s concerns about Kali Muscle’s eccentric approach to staying healthy only increase. So, when the 48-year-old shared a video of him preparing an apple-only meal—trying different ways to consume the fruit—the comments were filled with concern, especially regarding his weight loss.

Despite the fans’ concerns, he showcased his approval of the diet with one simple sentence in his caption: “Apples too good.” And the thing is, weight loss isn’t what he’s worried about. Kali Muscle is instead concerned about the presence of calcium sorbate in apples and the added sugars present in fruit juices. But these were just things for the 48-year-old to gloss over. However, the same couldn’t be said about his fans.

Kali Muscle looking “skinnier” by the day is not a good sign, per fans

Even as Muscle’s followers saw him in his element, sharing his two cents on the health and fitness journey he’s currently on, the visible weight loss perturbed many. One of them wrote, “Bros skinnier and skinner every time I see him I hope u doing ok brother.”

Since his heart attack, the bodybuilder has strayed off of meat. When he started this fruitarian diet, Muscle mentioned how the whole point of it was to keep his system from not having to struggle to break down food. However, seeing his fruit-only diet now, a follower couldn’t help but comment, “Lots of sugar, soon you will need the meat.”

Another Instagram user shared this sentiment, pointing to this diet’s possible consequences. “U are gonna kill just eating fruits and veggies all the time…..a fruit and veggie diet iz not a complete diet…..”

One user criticized Muscle and discussed the bodybuilder bashing those on PEDs, writing, “Dude has officially lost his mind. He hates on ster**ds but his whole physique was built on ster**ds then tries to promote these stupid diets.”Being upfront with the bodybuilder, one follower just wrote, “You need to stop with these apples.” Resonating that sentiment, another surmised, “Cannot sustain just on ap[ple]s.”

Through these fruit-only diets, Kali Muscle has shifted to a healthier lifestyle, transformed himself into a natural bodybuilder, and abstained from addiction. But given what he’s eating, it made one fan question, “By only consuming one food source, how are you getting a complete nutrient profile? Supplements ??”
