However, 7X Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger has you covered for such instances. Despite retiring from professional bodybuilding decades ago, Schwarzenegger still trains regularly at the age of 76. With years of experience and knowledge, Schwarzenegger is an expert when it comes to training and diet. In his recent edition of ‘Arnold’s Pump Club,’ he revealed a workout to his ‘village’ members consisting of four exercises. However, to make things interesting, he suggests doubling the reps after every set to make it difficult. Hence the name, ‘Double Trouble.’

“If you get to the point where you can’t at least perform the reps from the prior set without a break (for example, if aiming for 32 reps, you need to do at least 16 reps without a rest), then that means you shouldn’t perform any additional sets,” Schwarzenegger wrote. The four movements listed were Bodyweight squats, Bodyweight/Inverted rows, Pushups, and Reverse lunges.

The workout suggested by Schwarzenegger came days after a shocking revelation by Schwarzenegger about his heart surgery that happened back in 1997.

While many might speculate that Arnold’s heart attack might be a result of PED usage or intense dieting, the reality is that Schwarzenegger has a genetic condition. He was born with a heart defect called aortic stenosis, which causes the heart to pump harder than usual to get blood through the aortic valve. As a solution to this issue, he had to undergo surgery back in 1997. However, the doctor explained that there are two methods to operate this. The first would mean that Schwarzenegger wouldn’t be able to do any intense movements or stunts for his movies, while the other would not have any such restrictions, but it would be a lot more difficult.

Explaining this in his recent book ‘Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story,’ he revealed that the doctor explained, “You can continue doing stunts, you can continue doing sports, you can go skiing, you can go motorcycle riding, horseback riding—whatever you want to do.” However, the surgery only had a 60 percent chance of working. Concluding the incident, Schwarzenegger wrote, “Big risk, big reward. That made sense to me. “It’s fine,” I said. “I’ll take the risk.”

‘The Austrian Oak’ is not the one to give up on working out or physical exercise, as the incident suggested. His focus on staying active and maintaining good health has been stronger ever since. The workout suggested by Schwarzenegger might sound easy at first, but doubling the reps would certainly make it more difficult. Let us know your views on this workout in the comments.
