In an era of widespread online presence, it is not uncommon to see the social media accounts of celebrities being impersonated. Be it on X or Instagram, numerous fake accounts claim to be celebrities, deceiving unsuspecting users. A similar incident has occurred with the reigning Mr. Olympia Classic Physique Champion Chris Bumstead. Someone created a fake X (formerly Twitter) account in his name and has been using the same for over two years.

The account has in recent times gained so much popularity that it has already acquired over 460k followers. As the number of users engaging with the account continues to increase, Bumstead has now decided to take some action and seek help from fans to push for a ban.

Upon discovering that someone was using his name on X and was even posting about his life events while pretending to be him, Chris Bumstead took a screenshot and showcased it on his Instagram story. Shockingly, this account has been active for over 2 years. In his story, Bumstead further went on to state how he was debating whether to create an X account when he stumbled upon this imposter. He requested his followers to report the account for him, which would automatically lead to X blocking it.

Justifying why he wants it down, CBum wrote, Don’t want anyone with this much power over what people think I’m saying.” On the other hand, Bumstead posted another story revealing that he had started a new X account just for the purpose of reporting the fake one. “Apparently I need a real account to report,” he wrote. According to the story, @nottherealcbum is the user handle of CBum’s new account.

Well, this certainly is not the first time that CBum’s impersonator account has been in the news. Previously, Bumstead’s brother-in-law and former coach, Iain Valliere also shed light about the issues caused by the account.

Before the 2023 Mr. Olympia championship, Chris Bumstead’s fake X account had posted about him retiring. Soon after, CBum announced his wife’s pregnancy, leading to a social media frenzy. Many of his fans were disappointed about him calling quits. This was when Iain Valliere, his sister’s husband and trainer, was invited to the Generation Iron podcast.
