Arnold Schwarzenegger was never taken seriously when he proposed that he’d a comedy movie. The icon of action movies in Hollywood was rejected by several directors and producers for his supposed lack of appeal in a comedic role. However, the Terminator actor’s proposed solution convinced the producers to offer him the Twins movie contract, despite the inherent risk.

Starring next to Danny DeVito, Arnold Schwarzenegger suggested that he would not take payment, but proposed a condition that would help the producers and investors be at ease in casting him. This decision ultimately ended up giving the Hollywood star another shot at doing a blockbuster movie in a completely new genre.

In a podcast, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed how people always warned him against playing a comedy role. He recalled, “I love when someone says, this is really risky, Arnold, to do “Twins” because the people love to see in action movies, but I don’t know if they will go for it that you are in a comedy.” Yet the Austrian Oak did exactly what he was warned against.

Moreover, he clearly told the director, Ivan Reitman, the $300 million-worth Hollywood persona behind hits like the “Ghostbusters” series and “Animal House”, that he did not require any payment instead, a part of its ownership would do.

Schwarzenegger stated, “And of course I say OK, so don’t pay me. I said, don’t pay me. Just make me be part owner of the film.” The bodybuilder further added, “I take the risk just like you take the risk, and sure enough, I made more money on that movie like in any other movie.”

The duo of Twins, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito instantly became a fan favorite. Decades after the movie’s release, DeVito now revealed something quite exciting for the fans.
