Ronnie Coleman has left an enduring impression in the bodybuilding community, with an impressive eight Mr. Olympia titles (from 1998 to 2005), a feat he shares with Lee Haney. In recent times, several bodybuilders have aspired to emulate Coleman’s success. However, none may have achieved the heights that Coleman achieved during his career.

As this notion exists, the online community has been buzzing with outrage after a comparison was drawn between the King and Rubiel Mosquera aka Neckzilla. Mosquera’s recent appearance at the 2023 ELVS Prague Pro Show drew a lot of attention and sparked comparisons. Nevertheless, Neckzilla’s coach and former bodybuilder Chris Cormier openly compared him with Coleman. After this, fans lambasted the veteran bodybuilder.

After earning his Pro Card, Neckzilla took part in the Men’s Open Division at the Prague event and secured third place behind Samson Dauda and Michal Krizanek Krizo. Afterward, Chris Cormier and Dextor Jackson opined on the rising star.

Recently, Generation Iron shared a post on their official Instagram account, which talked about Jackson and Cormier saying that Mosquera reminded them of Ronnie Coleman. Generation Iron wrote in their caption, “Just how good can Rubiel Mosquera become?! He has drawn comparisons to some of the best of all time after impressing last month in Prague!”

Despite making waves in Prague, it seems like this comparison has irked fitness enthusiasts. The comment section of Generation Iron’s post was brimming with support for Coleman, with a few even asking when this comparison would come to an end.

Fans mostly seemed annoyed at the comparison

The majority of people asked, “Can we stop comparing every bodybuilder to Ronnie Coleman?” One fan added in rage “Don’t insult The King like that,” Another fan wrote with similar emotions, “He’s not a patch on Ronnie. Zero proportions zero aesthetics.”

An argument unfolded below one comment when one said, “How the f*ck can you dare you to compare him with Ronnie.” A reply to that shared strong opinions regarding Mosquera’s physique, “He has, dare I say, freakier genetics than Ronnie especially considering he’s gained about 100lb of muscle in just 4-5 years. He’s not as aesthetic nor has he come close to achieving Ronnie’s level of conditioning but at the rate he’s improving he’s got the potential to be the freakiest bodybuilder we’ve ever seen.”
