Ronnie Coleman became a bodybuilding star overnight after winning the 1998 Mr. Olympia trophy. After competing at Mr. Olympia for years, no one expected Coleman to win until he upset the then-favorite, Flex Wheeler. However, after he became champion, the cop-turned-bodybuilder held on to the crown for a total of eight years. During those eight years, the now-59-year-old pushed his body to the limit. Sometimes he went even beyond the limit.

During his bodybuilding career, the eight-time champion accumulated some injuries. However, his drive to win outweighed his health concerns back then. Hence, the Arnold Classic champion continued to train with injuries. However, after his stellar career, Coleman’s body collapsed as the surgeries kept piling up. Despite that, neither the bodybuilding icon nor his fans feel regret, as was apparent in his new video.

Despite needing crutches to walk, the former champion regularly trains at the gym and actively engages with his fans. In his latest YouTube video, the 59-year-old bodybuilding legend reviewed some footage from the 90s. The video showed The King training in the gym with his then-girlfriend Vickie Gates and two other workout partners. At the start of the video, Coleman heaped praise on Gates.

The former champion said Gates was the best training partner he ever had. However, he also revealed that in the 90s, all of them “clowned on” one another. The Arnold Classic champion revealed his two other training partners in the video were “old-school” friends, Curtis and Gus. The video also showed how heavy Ronnie Coleman trained even before winning Mr. Olympia. While Curtis maxed out at 570 lbs., Coleman almost succeeded in pulling 745 lbs.

Ronnie Coleman said he had a great time breaking down the video for his fans. The fans also heaped praise on the eight-time Mr. Olympia.
