Arnold Schwarzenegger always tries to correct misunderstandings of the fitness society by breaking many myths and stereotypes. This time he responded to one such common concern about the results of fitness in men and women. The 76-year-old bodybuilder tried his best to support his claims with evidence of research.

According to Arnold Schwarzenegger, even though constant exercising can in fact help people to be a better version of themselves, he also clears the misconception that men and women respond differently to it. The bodybuilder also claimed that one of the two genders gets more longevity benefits than the other.

Through one of the latest issues of his Newsletter, Arnold Schwarzenegger declared the difference between men and women when it comes to fitness results and their overall health. He stated how exercising for women reduce about 24% mortality risk while men saw a meagre 15% drop. Yet, Schwarzenegger revealed another important fact. He stated, The scientists found that women need about 140 minutes of low-intensity exercise per week to achieve maximum lifespan benefits. For a similar outcome, men would need to train more than 300 minutes per week.”

Moreover, the bodybuilder also unveiled how physical differences can be a cause of such differences in fitness responses. He further commented, “In general, men have lean muscle, larger hearts, and greater lung capacity, and these differences could be why women appear more responsive to exercise.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger also talked about one of the concerns women often have regarding their fitness while being on contraceptives.

In another issue of his Newsletter, Arnold Schwarzenegger openly talked about how taking oral contraceptives does not change or reduce one’s muscle gains. He stated how it does not diminish one’s gym performance either. Instead, he promoted how unique individuality often leads to different results. He noted, “If something feels off with your body or results, it doesn’t mean something is wrong with you.”
