Recently, Iain Valliere retired from the sport after winning accolades for his decade-long journey. 

The bodybuilding icon who mentored the 4x Mr. Olympia champion, Chris Bumstead, called it quits to focus on other arenas of life. Now, mentee cum brother-in-law CBum praises the decision of Valliere.

Bodybuilders are required to lift heavy at the gym and eat clean to see results. In addition, many athletes in the arena are on PEDs to build a trophy-winning physique. However, everyone is aware of disastrous health issues that can arise due to prolonged steroid consumption. So, many retire from the competitive sphere despite the quest to win more. 

Iain Valliere announced his retirement decision while making it clear that he is not doing it because of injuries or health conditions. Now, CBum, in his recent chat with Hany Rambod, spilled beans on his former coach’s decision. “I’m super happy for him, and it’s cool because everybody is very happy for him because they all know that he gave everything he could into his career,” the 28-year-old confessed. 

Further appreciating the hard work of Valliere, CBum stated, “He didn’t have the best genetics, but he worked really f***ing hard, and he seems at peace with his decision.” While Valliere called quits on his bodybuilding dreams, CBum is still training to compete this year. 

The bodybuilding icon’s journey toward the fifth Mr. Olympia title

The bodybuilding journey of Chris Bumstead was not a cakewalk. Unlike other champions in the sports arena, the 4x Mr. Olympia has been transparent about his difficulties on the road to success. From his kidney issues to a bicep tear before the 2022 version of Mr. Olympia, CBum was transparent about his struggles to his fans.

While many speculated about his retirement from the bodybuilding stage this year, the Classic Physique icon stalled the rumors by declaring that he would compete this year. While discussing his training for this year, CBum revealed, “So, I’m doing is taking this one step at a time, one work at a time, one day at a time,” like a wanderer in the forest.
