Jay Cutler‘s name went down in the history books of bodybuilding after he dethroned Ronnie Coleman in 2006, Mr. Olympia. He went on to lift three more Sandow trophies before retiring from the professional bodybuilding stage in 2013. In his recent edition of the Cutler Cast episode, the Quad Stomp discussed how most of the elite influencers are not active on a popular social media platform. Despite not belonging to the social media era, the 50-year-old adapted to it and amassed 5.1M followers on Instagram. So, he recently shared his thoughts on the importance of social media for the fitness industry.

Jay Cutler on the importance of social media platform-Facebook 

Social media spread its wings across generations since its inception a few years ago. The pandemic had only catapulted its need as many took to social media to keep themselves afloat during the dark times of lockdown. The fitness industry greatly relies on social media, as many influencers earned millions of followers on Instagram and YouTube. However, Cutler specifies that not many use Facebook.

While having a conversation with Matt, Cutler remarked, “I think Fitness people skip the Facebook thing don’t you feel like a lot of people, new generations.” He also mentioned that he actively uses his Facebook account to the “fullest.” Matt agreed and said, “Yeah, I’ve noticed that there are a lot of the bigger more popular influencers now don’t have a strong Facebook page.

Further, Matt made a revelation that Facebook could be more financially valuable. He also revealed that he had seen people with “50,000 fans” on Facebook while their popularity extends to “10 Million” followers on Instagram. It isn’t the first time Culter shared his views about social media. Earlier, he underlined a negative aspect of Social Media.

The Quad Stomp’s and The King’s onstage rivalry in the early 2000s is not unknown to bodybuilding fans. However, now the fitness community witness such fiery rivalry on social media, which Cutler disapproves of. “I think the internet has given people a voice that really shouldn’t have a voice and that’s the difference between the Ronnie era and now,” he once said.

Culter is not in good taste for “Trash Talking,” and recounted how all talking during his bodybuilding prime happened backstage, unlike today’s scenario. Despite the drawbacks, Cutler never refrained from using his social media power for the growth of bodybuilding.
