Some unmatchable legendary bodybuilders etched their names eternally as the best athletes in the tenure of the Golden Era of Bodybuilding. The God of Aesthetics is undoubtedly one of them. Having won the Mr. Olympia three times in a row and grabbing the limelight with his meticulous focus on symmetry and proportion, the 81 YO legend is still reigning over the spheres of sport.
However, bodybuilding is a sport that is a continuous maze of experimentation, failure, and finally, after years of contemplating, truly understanding how your body works. Frank Zane, just like any other bodybuilder, tried out several methods before he became the greatest, and well, not all of them worked for him.

The legendary bodybuilder Frank Zane in his 29th blog, which he titled, “Growing Symmetry & Proportion”, shared his experience of how he built his perfectly symmetrical and aesthetic physique. He shared two pictures of himself where he had double biceps, one was taken in 1964, when he weighed 185 pounds and the other was taken 15 years later.
He regrets having undergone the process of bulking right after a year he began his transformation journey, where he built his enormous thighs by doing intense squat sessions. He said, “I was doing 3 sets of 10 reps with 300 pounds in squats when I was 18 and eventually did 10 reps with 405. Built big thighs and a thick lower back but it also made my waist bigger.”

He thinks he would have had a better symmetry, had he given time to understand his body, which, as an amateur, he did not understand. The legend added, “Although I gained size in thighs and waist, I gained very little size in chest and arms. Bulking up this way proved to be a waste of time, I lost about a year on this experiment.” Frank Zane also helps his fans with a few ideologies that he has acquired over all the years of experimenting.
Frank Zane gives tips on building the perfect body
Frank Zane begins the blog by talking about how it is important to give the process of transformation time in order to develop quality muscles. He further goes on to state how weighing machines does not help. Rather, it is better that one keeps visual evidence in the form of photos, clicking yourself after every workout to see the difference in your body. The weight has nothing to do with it.

The legendary bodybuilder once even disclosed why it is extremely important to do an extensive session of warm-ups before you get into a routine of heavy lifting, and he spoke this from his own experience. Advocating healthy workout routines, he added how pushing the body beyond its limit can have adverse effects, and might lead to serious injuries and therefore, it is utterly important that one listens to what the body says.
