Hollywood star and rock-climbing enthusiast, Jason Momoa rose to fame after his iconic feature in the 2018 superhero film, Aquaman. However, the amount of work that went behind building the actor?s physique recently came to light. In a recent publication, just three days ahead of Momoa’s Fast X release, his workout regimen for the role of Aquaman was revealed.?

Guided and trained by celebrity trainer Mark Twight, Momoa?s Aquaman training plan was delicately curated, keeping in mind the role?s needs along with the actor?s personal choices. Twight was compelled to adapt rock climbing into the routine, to meet Momoa?s demands. But considering Momoa had to gain weight for his iconic DC character, rock climbing was probably not the need for a suitable physique. Recently, Twight shed some light on how challenging it was for him and Momoa as well.

Per Men’s Health, the 43-year-old star had to upsize his frame to fit into the DC superhero?s role. Therefore, the crew hired the best trainer in the field, and also a big name in the rock-climbing industry, Mark Twight. He evaluated the actor?s desire to climb an indoor rock wall 2-3 days every week, which clashed with the demands of the character.

“We battled constantly with competing demands,” Twight said. As a rock climber, a lightweight body is crucial, but Momoa needed to gain size. Thus, the trainer, who also owns the popular Gym Jones, found a solution: weight training. A greater volume of training was essential to bring the desired changes to his physique.?

As a result, equal importance to the recovery practices was also given, which ended up being ?critical?. This aspect was handled by Twight?s assistant, Damian, who is a professional massage and physical therapist. ?We balanced weightlifting with climbing,? Twight revealed. He also added that he focused on the less-affected muscles when in the gym, and skipped the parts that would be stressed in the next climbing session. While speaking of his superhero cameo in the 2016 movie, the actor used another aspect to achieve his build.
