Ronnie Coleman has always been considered a defining figure in the sport of bodybuilding. Not only did he popularise the entire sport, he was one of the few who helped in redefining it. But how did he do it? How did a policeman win 8 Mr. Olympia titles, the most in its history? Coleman addresses this very crucial question with a simple and honest truth.

Coleman has never looked at his career as something burdensome. Throughout his active working life and even after his retirement, he has only talked about the pleasure and enjoyment he received from bodybuilding. He recently talked about the same with Chris Bumstead’s coach.

In the latest YouTube video shared by Hany Rambod, Coleman is featured in the workout session. In the video, the bodybuilding beast implores the necessity of having a passion for what one does. It really helps one in doing everything possible for their profession. Coleman stated, “My hobby was the living. For a living. They say, as long as you got passion for something, you never work a day in your life.”

Furthermore, he emphasized this fact and pointed out how true it had been for him. He repeated, “I really never worked a day in my life. Cause I’ve always done my hobby for a living”.

It is not the first time Coleman has reflected on his career choices. On several occasions, he revealed how grateful he had been for being a bodybuilder.

Pain did not hamper Coleman’s passion for bodybuilding

Coleman, who had won about 26 IFBB titles, had once revealed that he is bored these days because nothing exciting was on his plate. After competing for quite a while, he had always been under strict discipline and always had something to look forward to. He thus remarked in the interview, “I was under enormous pressure during each preparation for Mr. Olympia. Nowadays, I’m a little bored. I somehow miss even pre-competition training and diet.”

Just like in any other sport, bodybuilding also requires lots of dedication. No amount of steroids and achieving a perfectly sculpted body can ever satisfy a bodybuilder as much as following their passion would.
