Prince won his IFBB Pro card after he won the 1997 NPC Nationals – Heavyweight and Overall. His competitive bodybuilding career was not much prolonged after that. Yet fans recognized how he still maintained his physique quite professionally even years later. However, it was later revealed that the former bodybuilder had a rare disease that could have led to his demise, and soon after, the world lost Tom Prince.

The fitness world has been going through a great many losses, and it has already been two years since the IFBB Pro bodybuilder left. Yet he still lives on, in the hearts of fans, who remembered him on his death anniversary. While several people from the community thought his death had been caused by ster**d abuse, other evidence was soon brought to the surface.

The rumors of Prince having a rare kidney disease, identified as Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), came to the fore. According to the National Institute of Health, it can have its origin from anabolic ster**ds. It was revealed, “We identified an association between focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and proteinuria in a cohort of 10 bodybuilders (six white and four Hispanic; mean body mass index 34.7) after long-term abuse of anabolic steroids.”

Although the bodybuilder had received a kidney transplant back in 2012, it failed soon after. Dying at the age of only 52 in 2022, Tom Prince left behind a legacy of his own. The fitness community joined hands to commemorate his two-year death anniversary. TheGoldendays on Instagram shared a video of the bodybuilder and wrote, “Next week, it will be 2 years since Tom Prince passed away from cancer, at age 52 ❤️… What an incredible champion. RIP”

Most of the community members pointed out how early they lost Prince. They also mourned over the early parting while also celebrating the former bodybuilder’s greatness.

One fan pointed out that bodybuilders like Prince were overshadowed because of other great bodybuilders. “So many crazy physiques from back then that got overlooked bc of the quality of the top competitors. Some of these guys would still win today.” A fan stated how Prince had quality enough to gain more recognition. They said, “One of the best. Deserves more recognition. R.I.P. brother.”

Someone else observed that Prince could maintain his physique even after his competitive years. “Sigh. He was magnificent (both when he was competing and afterward.) Gone much too soon.” Yet another person said, “No one else retracted their shoulder to make the chest so broader. The man was a beast.”
