Bodybuilding beast, Jay Cutler, nearing his 50s, has set grand goals for this year. He launched a 12-week transformation challenge naming it the ‘Fit for 50’ challenge and the community hasn’t stopped talking about it since. He even shed light on it in his social media, claiming it is primarily to be the best version of himself. Likewise, today he dropped a secret from his prime bodybuilding days on YouTube. 

Cutler shared a video revealing the top workout routine he used for his comeback in 2009, after his defeat the year prior by Dexter Jackson. The athlete was already a two-time Mr. Olympia till then and was gearing up for his third. Thus, he earned the nickname “The Quad Stomp poser,” thus commemorating the year as the Quad-stomp year.

The 49-year-old athlete took to his official channel, Jay Cutler TV, and disclosed the iconic routine that helped him reign over the Mr. Olympia stage once again. “So spider curls, I actually used in my comeback for 2009, the quad stomp year,” he shared. The IFBB proclaimed that he intended to focus greatly on his shoulders and biceps that year. 

“taking the shoulders out” was his strategy to win the 2009 competitions, and so he did in addition to another one the consecutive year. Cutler added, “Now I always had more powerful shoulders, I had really developed shoulder caps so what I wanted to do was take the shoulders totally out.” Undoubtedly, the icon’s biceps, recorded at 22.5 inches, per reports, and quad muscles, were unique to his physique

The American star decided to showcase how the exercise was meant to be done in the video, as he laid down on an incline bench and performed the routine. “show you guys how to really isolate the biceps,” he chimed in. Culter detailed that the workout could also be done with a barbell and dumbbells. Interestingly, Cutler’s 2008 defeat didn’t budge his zeal to champion the sport.

Taking to his Instagram once, the champion shared a snippet of him explaining his viewpoint on losing to the 2008 Mr. Olympia, Dexter Jackson. “Real Champions and real winners will pick themselves up and overcome all odds,” the post’s caption insinuated iterating his staggering mindset.

If that’s not all, Cutler even stated that losing to Jackson was a reality check for him, which pushed him to work harder. He remarked, “I think losing to Dexter was the best thing to ever happen to me. I think I get complacent. I think I get used to winning.”
