Like any other sport, Bodybuilding has also become an Internet sensation, all thanks to social media. Nowadays, fans are always kept in the loop about their favorites, as bodybuilders keep everyone updated through their social media accounts on Instagram and X.
However, this can also become a hindrance owing to false accounts that impersonate athletes and peddle fake news in their name. Five-time Mr. Olympia Classic Physique winner Chris Bumstead went through a similar problem recently, about which he talked during an interview at the Dubai Muscle Pro.

During the interview, the conversations ranged from the rumors behind Bumstead’s retirement and even delved into the good news of him becoming a father soon. However, among all the good news, the controversies were not left behind with the host asking him about the rumor about his X (Twitter) account.
The host asked CBum if he was on Twitter and with his usual calm demeanor, Bumstead talked about the fake account and the huge number of followers that it has garnered. He narrated, “I’m not on Twitter I tried to report that account because I’m like there’s a Twitter account with 500,000 followers that’s not me.” He also explained the power of social media to either guide people to the right path or misguide them with false information. Bumstead said, “And I’m like damn that’s a lot of power they could say anything and people will think it’s me. So I try to report them but Twitter won’t let me take them down.”
Even the five-time Mr Olympia winner’s brother-in-law had spoken about this false account previously and tried to warn his fans about it.

Iain Valliere slams false Twitter account
Generation Iron Muscles and Fitness previously talked about a sneak peek episode and posted about it on an Instagram account. That episode featured Iain Valliere as a special guest. In the interview, Bumstead’s brother-in-law and former bodybuilding pro exposed the fact that his Twitter account was fake and that the millions of people following it did not know.
He wrote, “Lol, he’s my brother-in-law and said himself he didn’t post this, that isn’t his Twitter numb n*ts.” This cleared a lot of confusion surrounding the Twitter account and any other doubts regarding it.
