Now, a few days after his post on the Apple Vision Pro, the actor got to experience a tech that revolutionized filmmaking. As Patrick Schwarzenegger follows in the footsteps of Arnold Schwarzenegger, he is experiencing new things through his acting career. While the Apple Vision Pro might be able to project a rough image of your eyes on its visor, motion capture is on another league. The bodybuilding icon’s son posted a selfie showing what it takes to capture facial expressions. A camera strapped in front of his face recorded every expression. The motion capture technicians also covered his face with black dots and six lines around his upper and lower lip.

These dots and lines, alongside the camera footage, will help the motion capture software churn out an incredibly detailed 3D render of Patrick Schwarzenegger’s face. When used wisely, audiences won’t even understand where a particular scene used the real footage or the 3D render. Motion capture tech is also used to replicate an actor’s likeness in animated films.

However, Schwarzenegger didn’t reveal which project required him to perform in a motion capture suit. Unsurprisingly, Arnold Schwarzenegger has already tried out the tech.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has done it before
The Terminator star didn’t get to try motion capture in his heyday because the tech didn’t exist back then. However, the 80s action star is still going strong, and it was a Terminator film that allowed him to try motion capture. In Terminator Genisys, Arnold Schwarzenegger fought the younger version of himself on the silver screen.

While animators used a vast library of footage from past films and old photographs, they also used motion capture. The VFX team had a session where they worked with Arnold Schwarzenegger to capture his expressions. They then used that data on the CGI younger version to “compensate for the discrepancy between the ages.” Arnie also appeared in a motion capture suit for a BMW commercial.
While Partick Schwarzenegger wanted to experience the Appl Vision Pro, he got an experience that was even more exclusive.
