“You see a dude walking around with his gallon jug? He’s nearly got the right idea right. He’s close. But just drinking water on its own, you’re not totally maximizing your hydration.” According to Sulek, to maximize hydration levels you need chemical compounds like electrolytes, magnesium, and potassium. These compounds are important for you to hit maximum hydration and keep you focused while you work out.

The 21-year-old highlighted that whenever he is unable to complete his hydration goals with his electrolytes, that directly impacts his performance in the gym. “Then my lift is gonna, it’s gonna kind of suffer you know,” he explained. Sulek, therefore, has a routine of chugging a liter and a half of electrolytes mixed with water as soon as he wakes up in the morning.
“Electrolytes are seriously going to get you when it comes to, you know, feeling hydrated, feeling good. Really, there’s no other way to say it than that,” explained the bodybuilding enthusiast. He is not the only one who has discussed the benefits of electrolytes. The bodybuilding legend, Arnold Schwarzenegger, also shared the benefits of electrolytes in his newsletter.

The Terminator had earlier shed light on the fact that staying hydrated during your workouts helps you battle fatigue. His evidence-based research revealed the major scientific benefits of staying hydrated. According to the newsletter, studies have highlighted that drinking water mixed with electrolytes, primarily sodium, can help you recover faster and increase the longevity of your workout. The study was performed on two groups of runners. The group that was given electrolytes finished the race 26 minutes faster than the other group, showcasing how electrolytes keep your stamina up and fight fatigue caused by dehydration.
The study suggests aiming for at least 8 to 10 ounces of liquid with every half of your training. The water intake depends from person to person; if you sweat more, you need to drink more. If you extend your workout for more than an hour or if it is a high-intensity workout, it becomes crucial for you to drink more water to ensure the smooth working of your nerves and muscles.
