

Bodybuilding icon, Arnold Schwarzenegger attained the highest accolades in his life, and he never chose it easy. Moving from his homeland to a foreign country, hardly speaking even the native language, he?s surely come a long way. Yet, once when life struck him down, he chose to play along. He underwent two open-heart surgeries due to a congenital heart condition, thus threatening his athletic career.
Schwarzenegger revealed in the latest edition of his newsletter that his post-surgery phase was particularly difficult. For a man who?s eternally motivated and holds a world record for the heaviest deadlift, he played it down. However, he chose to be mindful of his recovery and gave himself enough before getting back to the intense workout.?

Arnold Schwarzenegger took his time with recovery
According to the newsletter, the 75-year-old athlete recalled his days after the surgeries, when he struggled with workouts and simply exercised with no weights. He advised that there must be a ?mix? of religiously abiding by the routines to never ?overdoing it.? Schwarzenegger pointed out, that the physical limitations stem out days after any medical surgery, and to be mindful of those, one must assess their exercises.

?Because the goal isn?t short-term, it?s long term,? the 6?2 athlete added. Additionally, he implied that he could have appeared to be a hunk in front of others and lifted heavy, but that would only have exposed him to injuries and permanent damage to the body.?
?So yeah, I could have been a ?badass? and gone heavy after my surgeries and hurt myself, but where would that have left me?? he urged his 310k+ subscribers to ponder. Hinting at the larger picture, The Austrian Oak declared that steady yet routine steps, always help one achieve greater in life. By the same token, he recently disclosed how he trained for one of his iconic movies, only weeks after his surgery.?
Arnold Schwarzenegger put in the hard work
A question in the Arnold Q&A session in his newsletter encouraged the star athlete to share a fascinating instance from his acting career. Urging his subscriber to make the best use of whatever is available to workout with, he pointed out that is how he trained for his 2019 action film, Terminator: Dark Fate.?

After his surgery, Arnie couldn?t train for 6 weeks. However, as the challenge-seeker he is, he was determined to ace his role in the sequel film. Within 3 months post-surgery, the actor was in good shape to take up the role in 2018. ?Building a foundation will save you for the times you can?t train!? he suggested.?
