The realm of bodybuilding has always been led further by the incredible passion and determination of several talented people. Although we know many prominent figures from Arnold Schwarzenegger to Ronnie Coleman, the list of bodybuilding legends has no end. David Stewart from Co Armagh fits perfectly well in this list as he has won the national bodybuilding title at 47. For him, age doesn’t matter if you have an endless passion to achieve your dreams. 

David Stewart competes in natural bodybuilding competitions where he has made the world aware of his sheer excellence in fitness and powerlifting. The legend has also combated sickness and never let it become a hurdle in between his dreams. At the age of 16, his passion for bodybuilding sparked.

Age doesn’t matter to make history For David Stewart

In a recent Instagram post, Stewart shared a heartfelt caption with his fans that said,Champions are not the ones who always win – champions are the ones who get out there and try. And try harder the next time. And even harder the next time. ‘Champion’ is a state of mind. They are devoted. They compete to best themselves as much if not more than they compete to best others. Champions are not just athletes.

Having seen his father being involved in bodybuilding, Stewart released what he wanted from his life. Following his father’s footsteps, he started to hit the gym and gained excellence in power and weight-lifting. After gaining some experience, he attended natural bodybuilding shows that gained him immense popularity in the fitness world.

After getting fame from natural bodybuilding shows in his late 20s, he decided to move forward and not look behind. Talking about his recent accomplishments, he participated in the Natural Bodybuilding Federation Ireland finals where secured a second position. Later on, he was invited to attend the British National Bodybuilding Federation. He had been sick and stated, “The highlight so far would’ve had to have been this weekend. The simple reason is it was the hardest prep I had to put myself through, I had been sick and wasn’t eating properly, and only had four or five weeks out to try and get back into shape and condition again. I placed with my son in the crowd, that was a real win for me there.”

David Stewart opens up on his sickness

He has gone through the toughest preparation and training to make history in bodybuilding. Despite he has crossed his 40s and come close to 50, his enthusiasm for bodybuilding never died out. Recently, he admitted that he has suffered some health issues owing to which he could not focus on his training and workout. Moreover, he could not eat properly. In order to recover from sickness, he has decided to take a break so that he can get back on track with a healthy body.

Persistence is the key to achieving any dream, says Stewart. He didn’t stop after setbacks and health issues. He has kept his journey going in the world of bodybuilding. Is David Stewart aiming to win another title?
