The question if one should be engaging in cardio before or after weight training has always been a hot topic of debate in the bodybuilding realm. 43-year-old fitness expert Marc Lobliner is back again with his valuable insights on this topic.

Lobliner recently uploaded a video on his YouTube channel TigerFitness explaining the bodybuilder cardio regime for burning calories. He gave an example of what he follows as his cardio regime. Let’s find out what the IFBB Pro thinks about doing cardio after or before weight training.

Cardio timing does not matter for the IFBB Pro

I’m gonna go along with saying it doesn’t really matter,” says Lobliner in a surprise answer to the cardio dilemma. He emphasized that bodybuilding cardio is all about burning calories, and timing does not affect it. He shared his cardio regime, saying that he goes for a morning walk around his block with his dog for 20 minutes to get all the vitamin D.

If you’re doing high-intensity interval training, sprints, or your job is doing anything above what most bodybuilders do, which is low-intensity training, that includes very slow walking or even moderate-paced walking; there’s no reason why you can’t do pre-training. Pre-training doesn’t mean doing cardio for a straight hour; you can have 30 minutes of pre-cardio and the rest 30 as post-cardio, Lobliner explains.

Further, he highlighted that if you’re looking for hypertrophy and you engage in walking as a form of cardio, no harm’s going to come from that. “Yeah, you’re going to be just f**king fine whenever you walk on that God damn treadmill,” said the IFBB Pro for the rest of us who want to look good and build a few muscles.

On the other hand, Lobliner admitted that cardio timing matters for IFBB Pros and Mr. Olmypia athletes. Let us see what the Hany Rambod, with 24 titles under his belt, has to recommend in terms of cardio.

The Pro Creator always guides bodybuilding enthusiasts in the right direction. In a Q&A session in an earlier video, Rambod shared how cardio can affect one’s gains. The Pro Creator said, “Absolutely if you guys overdo cardio, if you’re undereating, overtraining, and overdoing cardio from any aspect of your preparation while getting ready for show it can eat you up.”

According to Rambod, doing excessive cardio can have a damaging effect on your gains. According to him, one should start with 20 to 30 minutes of basic cardio and not rush into high-intensity training. For this, Rambod also suggested a limit of 30 to 45 minutes. Also, if someone is out of shape, they can perform cardio for 60 minutes twice a day, according to The Pro Creator.
