The Terminator actor highlighted a scientific study that looked at how caffeine affected bone health. While studies often conclude that something either positively or negatively impacts health, this one yielded a startling result. The former Mr. Olympia explained that “the right amount of coffee can improve bone health.” However, the opposite is also possible.

“Up to three cups of coffee per day are associated with better bone mineral density and overall bone health,” the fitness icon wrote in Arnold’s Pump ClubScientists concluded by analyzing molecules in the blood that indicate good bone health. However, drinking “six to eight cups per day,” harmed bone health.

According to the study, too much caffeine intake contributed to calcium loss, which would degrade bone health in the long term. Hence, coffee, according to the study, is the perfect example of too much of a good thing harming your body. However, this isn’t the only time Arnold Schwarzenegger has harped about coffee and its benefits.

The seven-time Mr. Olympia once wrote about a 12-year study on caffeine consumption through tea and coffee. The study found that having both tea and coffee helped prevent disease. The study found that drinking two to three cups of coffee and the same amount of tea per day helped reduce the risk of stroke by 32% and dementia by 27%.
