Bodybuilding Veteran Flex Wheeler Gives the Ultimate One-Word Compliment for 45-Year-Old Athlete

Flex Wheeler is a renowned name in the bodybuilding world. Though he retired from the competitive sport nearly two decades ago, he continues to be a driving force in the industry. Earlier this year, Wheeler also received a lifetime achievement award for his contributions to the sport. Naturally, being appreciated by the Sultan of Symmetry himself for one’s prowess in the sport is a dream for many fans. However, it recently came true for one, Antonio De Sanctis.

Antonio De Sanctis is a 45-year-old Italian CrossFit athlete and owner of CrossFit Termoli, a gym in Italy. Recently, the bodybuilder veteran was in awe of Sanctis’ strength. Wheeler had reacted to one of Sanctis’ videos and even shared it on his Instagram.

Flex Wheeler praises Antonio De Sanctis

Earlier today, the 57-year-old bodybuilding legend shared a post by CrossFit on his Instagram story. In the video, 45-year-old Antonio De Sanctis was deadlifting over 242 lbs without so much as breaking a sweat. Flex Wheeler was impressed how a bodybuilder with “86 kg body weight” lifted nearly a quarter more than his own weight.

Falling short of words to express himself, Wheeler used a “wow!” sticker to convey his reaction. He also added the bodybuilder’s weight and age in the caption to justify his bewilderment.

Bodybuilding legend changed the life of a rookie

Back in December 2022, Flex Wheeler was on the receiving end of compliments. A budding bodybuilder named Aiko Liu had thanked Wheeler for his game-changing tips. Right before making his Olympia debut, Liu had shared a photo with Wheeler. He captioned the post, “The calm before the strong.”

Just like his mentor, Liu too had fought several health battles including a broken ankle, food poisoning, eye infection, etc. He was also wearing an eye patch in the photo. Further in the caption, Liu exclaimed that life is full of surprises. When the duo had met three years ago, Liu was just a skinny boy. But despite that, Wheeler had put his trust in him and ensured he was Olympia-ready.
