The man who blindly abided by what Arnold Schwarzenegger did had once talked about his diet during the peak week and the secret to his huge physique on stage. He described that during the 70s and 80s which was the prime time of his competition days, he did well on white rice and a little bit of fruit in the morning. Along with that, he would have two pieces of granola bread before the contest and it was paired with something that you would not expect.

Platz said, “I would put maple syrup and frozen bananas and cinnamon then that with a cup of coffee, it was like man I was ready for the gym.” According to him the high fat preserved or sustained the carbohydrate. However, he also said, “But I didn’t have the fat. I was working off real like less than 9 grams of fat a day but that diet worked extremely well in 81 but again I think I should have switched back later years in the 80s.”

Maybe he got this dietary advice from someone or he realised that doing this was increasing his muscles through trial and error. However, Mike Menser was a huge help during his prime time because he helped plants understand the importance of carbs.

However, every person has a different physique and needs different dietary processes to have a healthy physique. He recalled that he did reasonably well on zero carbs and low carbs but it was not working out for his physique. This is when Mentzer had conversations with him which made the bodybuilding champion start taking higher carbs instead of lower amounts. He stated, “I decided through many conversations with him I am gonna go on high carbs at the 81′ Olympia. I’m gonna go 300 grams a day, that was huge, coming from 25 a day. And all of a sudden I’m in the gym and I’m like bigger than ever and I’m in better shape than ever.”
