Hugh Jackman earned immense fame and love from the fans after portraying Wolverine in X-Men. Now that he is returning as the fan-favorite character for Deadpool 2, movie buffs are super excited to see him on the silver screen. The 55-year-old Australian actor uploaded a #thursdaythrowback clip of a grueling arm workout from his prep for Deadpool 2. Among the many who commented was a fellow Australian and bodybuilding legend Lee Priest.

Fans believe that the 51-year-old bodybuilder was among the finest bodybuilders of the 90s. Despite his height disadvantage, Priest competed against the best in the world, even beating eight-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman in 1997. When the legend came across Hugh Jackman’s workout, he liked what he saw but also expressed regret not getting the opportunity to train the Hollywood star.

“I could have trained you,” wrote the bodybuilding icon in his comment. The video in question showed Hugh Jackman performing the classic bodybuilding exercise, the barbell bicep curls. “When I was #becomingwolverineagain my friend and trainer Beth Lewis was always by my side,” wrote the actor. In fact, Lewis was the one filming the video.

The video showed the X-Men actor doing rep after rep. When he couldn’t do them standing upright, his coach told him to bend over slightly and do more reps instead of resting. While Lee Priest didn’t comment on the workout, the veteran had some of the freakiest arms in bodybuilding. So it’s safe to assume that Jackman would’ve achieved tremendous arm training under Priest.

While the viral clip earned praise from fans, some responded to Priest’s comment. Everyone seemed to agree that the bodybuilding icon would’ve gotten Hugh Jackman even more jacked for Deadpool 2. That being said, the video showcased how Jackman still poured his blood, sweat, and tears despite being 55.

Hugh Jackman’s insane bodybuilding transformation

The Australian actor didn’t have a jacked and ripped physique when he picked up the mantle of Wolverine for the first time. However, over the years, in subsequent films, The Greatest Showman actor molded himself into the Marvel superhero. At his physical peak, Hugh Jackman was training just as hard as any bodybuilding competitor. He even dehydrated himself for shirtless scenes.

Bodybuilding veterans like Lee Priest would be familiar with the dehydration technique to look ripped before a bodybuilding contest. However, Hugh Jackman surprised everyone when he revealed doing the same for Wolverine. The 55-year-old explained that he would reduce and finally stop drinking water a day before shooting a shirtless scene to look more ripped.
