Standing at 6’8 and weighing over 450 lbs (during his prime), it’s an understatement to call Brian Shaw massive. However, the four-time World’s Strongest Man is currently eating to cut down his weight. Shaw aims to get well under 400 lbs for the first time in over a decade. Earlier, the former strongman shared what he is having during the cut, but it’s not your typical weight-cutting diet.

At 310 lbs, former Mr. Olympia Big Ramy is among the biggest mass monsters to ever step on the bodybuilding stage. However, even Ramy’s diet pales in comparison to Brian Shaw’s insane 4600+ calorie diet during this cut. In fact, Shaw’s diet has left many bodybuilding fans astonished.

What does Brian Shaw eat to fill his calorie count?

Despite being on a cut, the 6’8 strongman giant requires six meals a day. Shaw also doesn’t follow specific diet philosophies like veganism or keto. Hence, the strongman eats animal products, plant-based food, and dairy in the video. The strongman giant also required some giant portions.

While it may look like a lot, the bodybuilding enthusiast ate a lot more during his prime. Brian Shaw’s breakfast consisted of 890 calories. Meal 2 had 885. Lunch was the biggest meal for the 41-year-old. He ate 1140 calories during lunch. However, the rest of the meals winded down on the calories.

Shaw’s evening snack had 525 calories, while his dinner went up to 940. Finally, he finished the day with protein a 240-calorie protein shake. The six meals brought the calorie total to a whopping 4260 calories. Shaw also consumed more protein than your average professional bodybuilder, eating 512 gms of it.

If you’re wondering why the strongmans are trying to cut weight, it’s not for a transformation. Brian Shaw will fight in an MMA tournament on Feb 17, 2024, at Lusail Stadium in Qatar. Among his opponents will be the reigning WSM champ, Mitchell Hooper, bodybuilder Maryn Ford, and his best buddy, fellow WSM champ Eddie Hall. Shaw wouldn’t be able to move around the octagon if he weighed well above 400 lbs. Hence, the cut. Well, at least by his standards.

A strongman giant and an inspiration

Fans couldn’t help but compare Shaw’s gigantic weight-cutting diet with that of an average bodybuilder. “One Bodybuilder’s Bulk is a strongman’s cut,” commented one fan. “4600 calories is his cut. That is mind-blowing,” resounded another comment.

One of the fans praised the former champion. “Brian is going to be in the best shape of his life… he’s going to be scary and nimble with the strength,” they wrote. Others shared their weight loss journey and thanked Brian Shaw for inspiring them. “I’m 6’4″ at my heaviest I was 510. Currently at 405. The goal is 280. Watched Brian for years, man are you inspiring!” commented one fan. “Down from 315 to 250 in the last 7 months or so. Delighted to see all the comments of people on their weight loss journey and Brian as well. We’ll all get there together,” wrote a second subscriber.
