British actor Henry Cavill burst onto the silver screen with his portrayal of Superman in Zach Snyder’s 2013 film ‘Man of Steel’. Although the actor had already been in the entertainment industry, his portrayal of the Krypton-born alien made him a fan favorite in no time. However, what also came into prominence is his bodybuilding ability to get in shape for any character. In a recent video that covered Henry Cavill’s physical transformations for various characters over the years, the fitness world is beyond impressed by his dedication and effort put into each role to look the part.

Although he is most notably known for playing Superman, Henry Cavill has shown equal discipline towards most of the other characters that demanded him to look a certain way. From playing Theseus in Immortals to Superman in the DC comics films to Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, Cavill has never left any stone unturned to prepare for a role, and the fitness world hails him for that.

A recent YouTube video by Will Cozens titled, “Henry Cavill Body Transformation”, collated several clips from his interviews over the years to show how hard he has worked physically throughout his career to give authenticity to each character. During an interview for Man of Steel, within the video, Henry Cavill said, “It was some hard training, very hard training… Go to the gym for an hour in the morning, and then 14 hours of work afterward”.

Cavill knew the makers were pushing him to the limits since the role of Superman demanded a physique like that. Cavill was also taking on a role previously played by Christopher Reeve, and hence, those were huge shoes to fill. Christopher Reeve himself refused any type of bodysuit and physically worked out to play the part. Therefore, Cavill could do no less. But his strict fitness regime for a character started with Immortals in 2011.

Henry Cavill played the mythical Greek king Theseus, and he was required to look like a Greek god for that role. He trained for 6 months in total, where he did a 2 hour morning workout followed by a 12-hour workday schedule. He continued such disciplined training throughout his career until he landed ‘The Witcher’. To play the titular role of Geralt, Cavill pushed himself beyond his known boundaries to attain such a chiseled look.

The bodybuilding and fitness world salutes his efforts

Henry Cavill admitted once in The Graham Norton Show that besides his usual rigorous training for the role, he would also slowly cut down on his water intake. It was a 6-day plan where, by Day 6, his water consumption would be completely cut off, in order to give him that flimsy look on his skin on top of his bulging muscles. Cavill submitted himself to it, and the fitness world couldn’t help but laud him for it. Here’s how some of them reacted:

“He is a Real Man: He is so strong beautiful brutal dominant Muscle God,” wrote a die-hard fan who is clearly mesmerized by the physical form that Henry Cavill brings onscreen every time.

“Immortals, Henry Cavill’s Best Physique”. wrote another fan who believes his physique as Theseus stands out from the rest.
