Annie Thorinsdottir, the first woman to become a two-time CrossFit Games champion, never ceases to amaze the. The athlete, who is 30 weeks pregnant, recently took the fitness community by surprise with her handstand skills. The former champion not only did a handstand but walked on her hands and made it look effortless.

While handstand walks are difficult on their own, doing it while pregnant blew the minds of fitness enthusiasts on the internet. Fans expressed their astonishment after the Instagram page Life of CrossFit shared the clip of Annie Thorinsdottir. However, while most people were impressed, some didn’t think it was a great idea.

Annie Thorinsdottir does more than just a handstand

The co-owner of the CrossFit Reykjavik, handstand walked at least 20 steps in the clip. However, she did far more than that throughout the workout. The two-time champion has been regularly uploading her workouts on social media as she goes through pregnancy. While Thorinsdottir is avoiding movements like burpees, she is actively engaging in other exercises.

The 34-year-old performs elevated power cleans, shoulder presses, overhead squats, and handstand walks. Annie Thorinsdottir is doing exactly what the six-time Fittest Woman on Earth, Tai-Clair Toomey-Orr did during her pregnancy. Both champions didn’t stop their fitness journey because of their pregnancies, only specific exercises that might prove harmful.

While Thorinsdottir’s handstand walk astonished many, some had a different opinion. Similarly to Toomey-Orr, the former champion also faced criticism from some fans.

The majority of the fitness community was in agreement

Some people didn’t agree with the 34-year-old working out in the advanced stage of her pregnancy. “Quick research on this, not safe or recommended for someone pregnant,” wrote one follower. Others with similar opinions chimed in. However, the rest of the online fitness community defended the two-time Fittest Woman on Earth. 

“Love this. I was never strong enough to do handstand walks when I was pregnant…” a fitness enthusiast wrote. “Pregnant Annie does all of CrossFit better than me!” wrote a CrossFit enthusiast. “The baby was just as surprised as we are! joked one fan. Meanwhile, another fan joked by saying the workout was definitely helping the baby and wrote, “I think I’m seeing the baby’s abs.”
