As exciting and tempting as the realms of sports and fitness are, they can also be dangerous and unsafe at times. One of the most common health-related problems among athletes is cardiac arrest. Amidst the adrenaline and enjoyment that athletes get from lifting and pursuing bodybuilding, they often tend to ignore other aspects of a healthy lifestyle. Realizing this, Dominic Fusco made a great deal of changes in his lifestyle and workouts as he recently went through a sudden cardiac arrest.

Fusco revealed his own story in a series of Instagram posts where he explained the whole incident and also continued by educating the audience as to how to avoid this.

After coming off the ventilator, it was a difficult thing for Fusco to process, as he always lived a healthy lifestyle and had no history of heart problems. According to People.com, he revealed, “It was very blurry when I first came to, but I just remember being so emotional I couldn’t stop crying,” he said. Thankfully, there was no brain damage in his case.

Fusco’s suggestions for the viewers

Being a fitness creator himself, he was shocked to his core after facing a cardiac arrest as he maintained a healthy lifestyle. Doctors revealed that Fusco had a slightly enlarged heart, which led to the attack. As a solution to this, a defibrillator came to the young man’s rescue. In an attempt to spread awareness about this, Dominic suggests prioritizing health over everything. “I think there should be more readily available tests to see if you’re at risk for any pre-existing conditions,” he pointed out.

“I want this to be a reminder to everybody to prioritize your health — it was a wake-up call for me,” he says. “Be conscious of the workouts you decide to do, and always be conscious of having people around you. I think every single person should learn CPR because it saved my life and could save other people’s lives,” Fusco concluded.
