Strongman legend Eddie Hall, who left the Strongman domain after his impressive World’s Strongest Man (WSM) win in 2017, has pursued bodybuilding. Fitness trainer and renowned IFBB pro Greg Doucette critiqued his progress in this new endeavor. In a recent Instagram video, the Canadian coach initially expressed concerns about The Beast‘s transition to bodybuilding. Subsequently, he suggested that the strongman icon might want to consider trying sumo wrestling.

Doucette, a respected figure in the fitness world with a large following, admired the former Strongman champ’s impressive strength and skills. However, he pointed out that Hall’s bodybuilding goals hindered his progress. Specifically, the 47-year-old noticed that Hall’s physique wasn’t moving forward or improving; instead, it was declining.

Even though the 35-year-old athlete increased his body weight and gained extra fat, he had difficulty enhancing his overall balance. In fact, the fitness influencer emphasized the importance of aesthetics in bodybuilding competitions, as judges evaluate how well various body parts complement each other on stage.

Furthermore, Doucette pointed out that the 362 lbs. Englishman’s preference for eating large amounts of food and living a bulking lifestyle fits more with the sumo wrestling world. So, the retired powerlifter openly advised Hall to “switch over to sumo wrestling,” and let go of his bodybuilding dream for now. As a result, he urged the 2017 WSM champ to seize the chances offered by sumo wrestling.

“He wants to be a bodybuilder but doesn’t want to go on a diet. Sumo wrestling is definitely for big guys who like to eat a lot and pick things up and push things around…forget bodybuilding you can do that later, try this now,” Doucette said in the video.
