Coenzymes improve muscle damage

The Austrian Oak shared that if your body produces less natural antioxidants, you might feel extra soreness from your workouts. They might need an extra boost to help in faster recovery. Arnie highlighted that “a new study found that coenzyme Q10 (Co-Q10) might help you bounce back quicker from your hardest workouts.

The study analyzed 28 random controlled trials, and the scientist found that “Co-Q10 significantly improved three different biomarkers of muscle damage.” Co-Q10 is a molecule found in the powerhouse of cell mitochondria. It is naturally produced by your body, and some research has surprisingly found that taking Co-Q10 through supplements can be beneficial for the body and increase the production of natural Co-Q10, aiding in fast recovery.

However, the bodybuilding legend mentioned that supplements cannot replace the naturally produced Co-Q10. He emphasized following proper nutrition, hydration goals, movements, and sleep. Focusing on those first before experimenting with supplementation should be the way forward, said Arnie. On the other hand, if someone needs to take supplements, the Terminator also shares the proper dosage.

One might go for 100 to 300 mg of Co-Q10 per day and see the results in twelve weeks. However, Arnie prefers the natural route. Earlier, he shared how taking pain pills for soreness might slow down the body.

The recovery pill slows down your recovery process

In a previous edition of his newsletter, the 76-year-old former bodybuilder shared studies that found that NSAIDs like Advil or Motrin slow down the body’s healing process. He shed light on the fact that the majority of people find inflammation to be a negative thing, but it helps the natural healing process of the body. Inflammation takes out all the dead cells while fighting the harmful pathogens, aiding in recovery.

So, focus on those first before experimenting with supplementation,” explained the Austrian oak. Sure, these pills provide you comfort, but they directly impact the inflammation and reduce it significantly.
