Bodybuilder turned actor Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s first big break in Hollywood was John Milius’s Conan the Barbarian. It was about an action hero who was on a quest to find the killers of his family and people. Thus, the famous Atlantean sword used to battle the villains in the movie became an asset in the 1980s. While the sword is close to the heart of the actor, it has also gained much popularity in current times because of recreation.

Its relevance lies in the current Gen-Z era since the popular Netflix drama Stranger Things used the same sword for an iconic scene of the Season 4 finale. However, after having witnessed many bloodbaths, the sword now rests in David Harbour’s house, who plays the heroic police chief officer, per an interview with BBC Radio 1.

A fresh interview recently surfaced on BBC Radio 1’s official YouTube channel that featured the 48-year-old actor. He candidly chatted about Stranger Things and his upcoming movie, Gran Turismo, which portrays him as a racing trainer. The host eventually asked him if he has any props as mementos from the show. Hence, Harbour revealed that he wanted to steal the Atlantean sword but was not allowed to. Yet it was gifted to him later on.

“I tried to steal it; they told me I couldn’t, and then the prop guy sent it to me, which is God bless the prop guys on Stranger Things because I have that Atlantean sword, uh, Conan the Barbarian Atlantean sword from season four that I chop off the demogorgons at,” the actor said in the chat. Additionally, he admitted it’s actually in his stepdaughter’s room and claims her authority over it. “She calls it her sword, but that is my sword,” Harbour joked.

The prop held great value for Harbour because he killed the dreadful Demogorgons with it, a heroic moment. Besides, it was also related to The Austrian Oak’s hit movie from 1982, with which he avenged the death of his family. It’s safe to say that it’s a golden prop that has traveled from the possession of a warrior to a heroic small-town chief. Yet, there are additional details revealed in yet another interview that David did with Jimmy Kimmel.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Harbour once again got to the topic of how the Atlantean sword surfaced on the sets of Stranger Things. It was the brainchild of the actor himself, who suggested the creators use the sword from Conan the Barbarian because of its significance as an 80s weapon.

Kimmel wittily displayed a still from Arnold’s movie that left Harbour in surprise. “Basically, I’m in the same pose, staring down the camera, and I wanted to know what he thought of my technique. But he never got back to me,” he said. The actor revealed an additional fun fact about the sword. There were three swords used in the 1982 movie, and one rests in Arnold’s office, whereas the second one is in Harbour’s home. The whereabouts of the third sword remains unknown.
