After taking the world by storm with his athletic escapades and Hollywood magic, Arnold Schwarzenegger stepped into the political domain. He served as the 38th Governor of California for two terms, from 2007 to 2011. Surprisingly, the star had the highest Governor’s salary among the others yet, he rejected it calling it petty cash, and rather using it for a noble cause. 

Similarly, Arnie had another characteristic ideology about his political status. In the recent Netflix docuseries, Arnold revealed being adamant about the peculiar hobbies that he didn’t wish to change, unlike the other politicians.

As per the documentary, the 75-year-old legend sat alone with a big book of pictures, reminiscing his elite time as the Governor. While flipping through the pages, he said, “You know photos say more than 1000 words right?” Glancing at an impressive picture of him all suited up and posing on a throne-like chair, he shared his opinion. 

 

“I mean like this is saying: Even though Arnold was the governor, he never tried to sell out and do the kind of things politicians normally do,” the former athlete added. Further pointing at his expensive crocodile-leather boots, he spoke with pride that no politician wears “alligator boots and flaunt it” like he did.

Besides that, his love for cigars was also open to the public. Arnie revealed in the Netflix documentary,I didn’t hide my Cuban cigars either. I smoke because people should know that’s who I am.” Putting out a clear picture of himself, the star wanted to be chosen by the public for the person that he is. Nevertheless, he also opened up about his knowledge of the political sphere.

Arnold Schwarzenegger wasn’t as ideal for the role but his passion made it possible

Frankly speaking about his political intellect, Arnie shared that there were many things he didn’t know about being a Governor. “But one thing I knew that I’m going to serve the people of California and I’m not gonna just serve my party,” the Austrian Oak let out. He was determined to help the people and maintain the development of the state.

He was confident that this tiny passion of his will help him fit into the position rightly. “I’m not gonna be a party hack,” the Hollywood icon chimed in while asserting that he wanted to be a skillful public servant, who is going to serve the people of California.

While it is known that the political sphere beholds an overwhelming amount of complexities, Arnie’s mere passion to drive change and work for the betterment of his people vaulted him to the top. Sadly, he couldn’t run for the third term, owing to limitations by the Constitution of California. Regardless, he is still involved in politics, particularly to address the prevailing environmental issues.
