Feeling starved after lunch or craving something in the evening is something that happens to most people. If you also feel the same way, there seems to be a solution for it. The seven-time Mr. Olympia winner Arnold Schwarzenegger recently shared his valuable insights on how you can “control your afternoon hunger.”

In the latest edition of his daily newsletter, Arnold’s Pump Club, he shed light on the fact that if you feel starved after lunch and crave food in the evening, this is connected to the meal of your day. According to Arnie, fixing your first meal is the cure for this situation. But how does one do that?

Arnie always backs up his claims with research, and this time he has showcased research that suggests adding more protein to your first meal. If you add more protein to your first meal, this helps you manage the starvation and cravings you feel later in the day. This research was conducted on nearly 10,000 people, and they were divided into two groups.

The Austrian Oak wrote, “They found that people who ate a low-protein breakfast ate significantly more food in subsequent meals. But, it wasn’t just how much people ate — it’s what they ate.” On the other hand, those given a protein-rich breakfast ate fewer foods high in saturated fat, sugar, and salt. That’s not all to it; there’s more to discover.

In both cases, the breakfast they had was the least caloric meal of their day. Dinner was their most caloric meal of the entire day. Despite breakfast not being the most caloric diet of the day, those who had protein-rich meals experienced less hunger and chose better food throughout their day.

The outcome of this research is that if you want to improve your food choices and cure your afternoon hunger, you need to have a protein-rich and low-caloric breakfast. Having a protein-rich diet is good, but do you know how much protein your body can digest? The Austrian Oak previously shared new research on the protein synthesis process in our body. Let’s see what researchers found.

What amount of protein can your body digest?

Everyone knows the basic protein rule that your body can only digest 20 grams of protein, but this claim has been challenged over the past few years. This time, the Terminator shared evidence-based research to provide the right information. Arnie wrote, “Your muscles can use a seemingly ‘limitless’ amount of protein after a workout.

The researchers divided people into three groups: one group consumed no protein, the second had 25 grams, and the last consumed 100 grams of protein. Challenging the 20-gram protein claims, researchers found that people had no issue digesting 25 or 100 grams of protein.
