Arnold Schwarzenegger is a household name at this point, thanks to his various endeavors in the realm of bodybuilding, acting, politics, business, etc. Indeed, managing so many things at the same time can be overwhelming for even ‘The Terminator’ himself. Talking about this in his recent edition of the daily newsletter, ‘Arnold’s Pump Club,’ Schwarzenegger gave a little insight into his hectic routine.

The revelation came after a fan inquired about what Schwarzenegger thinks of natural bodybuilding and how he managed both acting and bodybuilding at the same time. Explaining the tool that helped him the most, ‘The Austrian Oak’ continued by disclosing that there was one point when he thought that his time as a bodybuilder was over.

Stepping into multiple professions and achieving success in all of them is not an easy task unless you are Arnold Schwarzenegger. But how did he manage this by himself? There must be something that would have helped him focus better and manage his time more efficiently. Pondering about the same, a fan asked this in a Q&A, to which Schwarzenegger replied in his newsletter. The person asked, “Natural Bodybuilding, what do You think about it? And What did You do in your old days to manage well your Bodybuilder Carrer with acting Carrer?, any tips for that? Thank you.” 

Replying to this, Schwarzenegger first gave his views on natural bodybuilding, saying, “I think it is fantastic.” Continuing about his career, he disclosed, “I used the same 5 hours to train for acting that I had spent in the gym. I learned to meditate because everything was getting hectic and I needed to learn to focus on one thing at a time.” However, he added that managing both things simultaneously was a bit scary for him.

Schwarzenegger admits that acting made him worry about his bodybuilding career

It was a dream come true for Arnold when he signed his first-ever movie in 1969, which was ‘Hercules in New York.’ After all, it was his childhood dream to become a bodybuilder. Bodybuilding was all part of his plan to enter Hollywood. However, when he had to transform for his role in the movie ‘Stay Hungry,’ he got worried and accepted that this would mark the end of his bodybuilding career. Fortunately, fate had something else planned for the Austrian. Arnold revealed this in the later part of his response to the Q&A.

He said, “When I started losing weight for Stay Hungry, I considered my bodybuilding career over. So I moved on. Until George Butler came to me and asked me to compete in 1975 so they could film Pumping Iron.” Thanks to Butler’s offer, Schwarzenegger got a chance to compete again in the Mr. Olympia, which helped him seize his seventh victory, creating a record for most Olympia wins at that time.
