The primary goal of fitness freaks is to maintain a healthy weight throughout their lives. The journey, however, is no less challenging. Maintaining a calorie-count-based diet is much more challenging than hitting the gym, but nutrition plays a key role in a healthy lifestyle. So, Arnold Schwarzenegger has a strategy to maintain calories without counting.

In his recent Arnold’s Pump Club edition, Schwarzenegger proposed Intermittent Fasting for maintaining a balanced calorie intake without getting overwhelmed by counting every meal.

Weight loss involves a simple math of calories consumed minus calories burnt. The extra calories will settle as fat in the body. So, fitness enthusiasts run after calorie counting to not gain weight, but Schwarzenegger specifies how intermittent fasting can do the job

The 76-year-old proposes a new scientific study that suggests maintaining an eating window would do the same job as calorie counting. “Multiple studies have found that intermittent fasting (also known as time-restricted eating) is not superior for fat loss. However, it might be an easier way to get similar results with less thinking,” his newsletter claims.

Arnie revealed how two groups monitored for a year lost similar weight by using alternative methods. One group followed an 8-hour eating window while the other counted calories. The results suggest the calorie-counting group lost 12 pounds, and the Intermittent Fasting batch lost 10 pounds. So, Schwarzenegger declares, “Creating an “eating window” is an easy way to make sure you don’t screw up and enjoy eating with less stress.” However, Arnie was not unhindered to disclose one of the major flaws of the Intermittent Fasting routine.

While Intermittent Fasting is as efficient as calorie restriction in weight loss, the former garners low points on building muscle mass. Arnie once revealed in his newsletter that those who followed the intermittent fasting routine were bound to lose more lean mass than calorie counters.
