It is not a shock to think how most of the movies done by Arnold Schwarzenegger have seen extreme success. His choices of scripts have given him several blockbusters and timeless hits. However, the bodybuilder who brought about a wave of fitness in the Hollywood industry revealed that there was a movie he regretted rejecting. Let us find out what movie he was talking about, and why he chose not to take it.

The 77-year-old bodybuilder who still is active in the entertainment industry was once offered a movie by Michael Bay which ended up collecting $335 million at the box office. Schwarzenegger was offered the lead alongside legendary actor, Sean Connery. As Schwarzenegger narrated the whole story, the bodybuilder also gave advice to new actors regarding choosing the right script.

In his latest Podcast, Arnold Schwarzenegger was asked if there ever was a movie that he regretted not doing, and the Terminator actor confessed it to be the 1996 action-hit “The Rock”. He recalled how Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson approached the Austrian Oak with its script which was only 80 pages and clearly unfinished. This prompted Schwarzenegger to tell them to come back once they had finished the whole writing.

The actor now revealed how Nicholas Cage got his role and the movie came out to be fantastic. He stated, “I really enjoyed the movie. But there was one movie, for instance, that I thought I wished I would have taken.” But the bodybuilder further added, “I just couldn’t take it because it was not yet written.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger firmly believed in the idea that ‘what’s not on the page is not on the stage’. The star also provided some of his philosophy about how to go about choosing movies.

Arnold Schwarzenegger implores actors to read the script first

Arnold Schwarzenegger asked actors to be extremely careful while choosing a movie. He said, “When you get offered movies, just make sure that it is written well.” Schwarzenegger then explained that one should not believe in someone when they say only the plans for the movie, but instead, he recommended checking in with their writing as well. He noted, “Let me see the pages first. Let’s see the rewrite first and all that stuff.” Schwarzenegger made sure to reveal this information so that people only choose good movies and understand how to distinguish good ones from bad ones.
