Joe Weider, the co-founder of the IFBB, and also an instrumental figure in creating Mr. Olympia, is often given a major credit in discovering Arnold Schwarzenegger and creating his bodybuilding career. Apart from that, Weider is also credited with launching him in movies.

He spoke in favor of The Austrian Oak with one of his connections, when they came knocking asking for a bodybuilder to be part of a special little project. He said, “You will get the best bodybuilder in the world. Schwarzenegger is your guy. He is extraordinary. His stage presence is outstanding.” Of course the Austrian Oak’s unique accent was a hindrance to his career in the beginning but as time passed, his uniqueness stood out and his name was enough for people to buy tickets.
