When it comes to acquiring knowledge about nutrition, a lot of people have the notion of boosting the rate of metabolism by eating more often, at smaller intervals. This is one of the many reasons why people have been consuming smaller meals four to six times a day rather than having good-filling meals three times a day for decades now. However, according to Bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger, there is a major problem in the practice.
Stating applied research in the latest edition of the daily Newsletter, Arnold’s Pump Club, Arnie unravels exactly how many meals you must have per day. He wrote, “Research suggests that the number of times you eat per day does not affect fat loss, body composition, or blood sugar management.” Elaborating on the research he stated that scientists had reviewed 11 studies that mainly revolved around meal frequency. They ranged from 2 to 3 meals a day compared to those who ate around 4 to 17 meals.

In the groups eating more frequently, it did not lead to any improvements in health markers as people traditionally believe that they do. He then added that it is not important to count the number of your meals, that must be a personal choice. The primary factor in concern must be how much and what you’re eating, and other behaviors that might impact your hunger and cravings.

He concluded, “The likelihood of success — whether with weight loss, gain, or overall health — depends more on the foods you eat and how much you consume.” Arnie has indeed been doing a great job with his Newsletter, educating the fitness community with valid points and stating research. He once even burst the myth surrounding muscle training and working out as well.
Arnold Schwarzenegger advises us to go beyond our limits
In another edition, Arnold Schwarzenegger stated how most people believe that if they go higher on reps with lighter weights, they can still get ripped. However, according to him, that’s not possible. He wrote, “There’s an art and science to training. Intensity determines your outcome. You need to challenge your body and push towards failure, which means you could find yourself doing 20 or 30 reps in some instances.” He further establishes that the best way to train your body is to drive it to the limit.

Simply doing a lot of reps is not enough. Only when you challenge your body hard enough, it will grow. He added, “Each time, you need to be adding more — whether reps, sets, or weight; that’s progressive in progressive resistance.” Well, even though he is a significant figure in Bodybuilding because of his knowledge, the truth about the sport is that no one can guide you through the path of success. It is your body and it is utterly important to figure out what works best for you! What are your thoughts about implementing methods of different workout styles?
