“Arnold’s Got Way Bigger Chest and Arms”: Arnold Schwarzenegger Side by Side Comparison With Chris Bumstead Draws Heated Attention on Internet

The changing norms and audience’s perspectives of the sport of bodybuilding have led to multiple changes in the physiques of athletes. Are the physiques that were once considered big and good enough for the Open class now not sufficient in the present era’s competition? Many including the veterans would argue that the Open division athletes back in the ’70s and the ’80s would have to compete in the Classic physique now. It can be argued that the ‘mass monsters’ in the Open category today can even make legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s prime physique look not big enough.

Recently, a post on Facebook possibly stirred a debate among the fans once again. The post comprised of a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime, and of Chris Bumstead. Fans could not resist expressing their admiration for the athletes and choosing their sides in the comments.

7X Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger was one of the primary reasons behind the sudden increase in popularity of the sport. His ventures into the realm of Hollywood helped him become a household name and people began to idolize his physique and take up bodybuilding. During his heydays, Schwarzenegger was known for his huge chest muscles and amazing bicep peak. He was one of the biggest bodybuilders on the roster back in the day and was lean enough to portray a perfect aesthetic frame.

Even though Chris Bumstead competes in the Classic Physique category and not the Open division, the on-stage weight of Bumstead is close to Arnold’s. With time, the sport of bodybuilding has evolved and Open class now features much heavier athletes. The similarity in their weights as well as the aesthetic resemblance led to fans comparing who is the better bodybuilder in the comments.

One of the users commented on the post by saying, “Both look amazing. CBUM is better balanced IMO, but Arnie’s chest is one of a kind.” Appreciating Schwarzenegger’s huge arms, a user wrote, “If you read arnolds book he emphsizes on triceps! They are what makes the arm look huge! And the photo shows just that!!”

Another user applauded both athletes and wrote, “Two legends different time. Both look fantastic! Would love to see Arnold competing in today’s world!” A hilarious comment read, “The only thing I’m envious of is the ability to grow a great mustache.” Pointing out the strong points of Bumstead and Arnold, another user wrote, “Arnold’s got way bigger chest and arms . C bum has the shoulders and abs.”
