The bodybuilding stage was set on fire by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the mid-1970s. To build a finely chiseled physique, the Austrian Oak lifted crazy weights in the gym during his prime. He continued to use his strength on the film sets as well by performing most of the stunts on his own.
He followed suit by not employing a body double in the 1985 flick Commando. Witnessing Arnie’s power, the director Lester believed that The Terminator icon could pull off any stunt in the world. But even the superheroes like Arnold Schwarzenegger have limits to display his power.
So, when the director suggested the Governator to lift a phone booth of “200 lbs,” the actor instantly replied, “‘Are you crazy? I can’t lift that phone booth with a man in it!” However, Schwarzenegger used to deadlift mind-numbing weights during his bodybuilding prime.

To build a ripped physique bodybuilders train their muscles by lifting heavy weights. But Schwarzenegger used to outperform himself when it came to heavyweight duties at the gym. He would train with his best friend Franco Columbu at the gym deadlifting and squatting heavyweights.

The 7x Mr. Olympia once confessed that training wasn’t a cakewalk. “When I was trying to squat 600 lbs, bench press 500 lbs, and deadlift 700 lbs, it didn’t feel like a walk in the park. It wasn’t easy,” he revealed. Despite the struggle, he even deadlifted 710 lbs once. Such is Arnie’s attitude of pushing beyond extremities.
