Bodybuilding icon?Arnold Schwarzenegger?has prioritized fitness throughout his life. Despite retiring from competitive?bodybuilding?in 1980, Schwarzenegger never stopped working out. However, the 76-year-old has dealt with major health issues for years. After discovering he had a defective heart valve in his early 30s, Arnie has undergone three heart surgeries. As a result, he has also altered his diet.

Schwarzenegger ate mostly animal protein during his bodybuilding days. However, the 76-year-old has cut out at least 70% of meat from his diet. While appearing on the Rick Roll Podcast, Schwarzenegger said what James Cameron told him about the effects of consuming too much meat.

Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals James Cameron’s message on consuming meat

During a particular segment of the podcast, Rich Roll asked Arnold Schwarzenegger about his passion for environmental activism. The vegan ultra-marathon athlete asked if?“Jim Cameron has been a part of that journey.”?The host also spoke about Arnie’s involvement in?The Game Changers?documentary, where James Cameron was among the many producers.

Schwarzenegger said the makers approached him because he had told Cameron about cutting down on his meat intake.?“Jim had a big impact on me,”?said the former Mr. Olympia. Schwarzenegger also explained why Cameron had a positive impact. The Terminator director?“confirmed what I told him about… how much better it is health-wise,”?said Arnie. However, Cameron also told him about the environmental impact of a meat-heavy diet.?“He also said, that don’t forget Arnold, that 25 or 28 percent of all the pollution comes from raising livestock,”?Schwarzenegger told Roll. Hence, according to the Titanic director, cutting down on meat would also cut down on the money spent on livestock.

“We would have much less pollution… It’s healthier for you, for our earth. That was his message,”?Schwarzenegger said during the podcast. However, Arnold Schwarzenegger has also spoken about other methods of reducing pollution.

An alarming yet often overlooked source of pollution

In May of this year, the seven-time Mr. Olympia spoke to Jose Andres. The Michelin star-winning chef, also an environmental activist, mentioned alarming statistics.?“Almost 3 billion people! 3 billion people! cook with charcoal with fossil fuels,”?said Arnie’s friend. He said that if these three billion people had access to clean kitchens, pollution would go down massively.

Providing three billion people with access to clean fuel is an unfathomable undertaking. However, Schwarzenegger is among those who also take action. Arnie’s climate initiative helps multiple companies make a positive impact on the environment. Schwarzenegger?promised his friend to speak about the issue?during his climate conference.
