Athletes have a wide range of recovery methods at their disposal, but not all may appear ideal. Some could even lead to trauma or negative experiences. In a recent YouTube interview on RxMuscle: The Truth in Bodybuilding, IFBB pro Dave Palumbo openly shared his experience with hyperbaric chambers, cautioning the fitness community about this particular method.

During the interview, Palumbo and NABB athlete Lee Priest candidly discussed the process and described their own encounters with it. Additionally, Palumbo revealed a gruesome accident that motivated him to explore this recovery option.

As per the interview that surfaced only hours ago today, the 55-year-old athlete took a moment to share his ordeal with the recovery process. However, what led to this step was a particular incident that injured Palumbo?s toes severely. He said, ?I went into a hyperbaric chamber because right before I move on to Florida I cut my toe I almost cut my entire toe off.?

The American pro had dropped a heavy object on his second to last toe and it ended up ?hanging by like a thread essentially.? Therefore, after getting it stitched up, Palumbo?s doctors suggested he consider trying out the hyperbaric chambers because his feet had poor blood circulation.?

Thus, to ensure a full recovery from his injury, Palumbo was ready to try out anything. However, he mindfully warned that it was not an ideal option for claustrophobes. ?I’ll tell you that if you’re claustrophobic the thing that you don’t want to do is you don’t want to go into a hyperbaric chamber,? the bodybuilding veteran noted. However, that was not the end of his discussion on the matter.?

After quite many sessions, Palumbo deduced that early morning is the best time to go through the process. He explained that once the process began; it was impossible to stop it mid-way since the room would be highly pressurized. Therefore, to reduce the risk of feeling suffocated, Palumbo would jump into the chamber and doze off, as revealed in his video.?

Moreover, even the experts were stunned by his feat as they marked Palumbo as the only person to have slept on each and every session. Thus, he chimed in and said, ?I?m tired,? given he would get only a few hours of sleep for the early morning sessions.?
