Discipline is what made Tammy Kearn stick to lifting weights for 40+ years. The English professor is now training for the 1st Physique competition, 2023. She often shares words of wisdom for fitness enthusiasts on her social media. In an Instagram post, the bodybuilding grandma distinguishes between motivation and discipline. 

She reveals in the clip what kept her going for four decades in her fitness journey. She even suggests methods to keep up with consistency with hitting the gym, which many find difficult, thanks to their busy lives.

The professor and fitness enthusiast is hitting the gym even after turning a grandma. She credits her consistency and discipline that had helped her to keep up with her training over the years. In the video compilation featuring her acing multiple exercises, Kearn could be seen as focused and light-hearted.

 

 In the caption, she writes, “To train consistently for weeks, months, years, and even decades requires DISCIPLINE.” Citing the difference between motivation and discipline, the bodybuilder says, “Discipline is something we can control. Motivation, not so much.” According to her, “Motivation is based on feelings, which are unpredictable and not easily controlled.” Whereas, “Discipline, on the other hand, is a practice, not a feeling,” she adds.

She suggests starting small initially and rewarding oneself on the completion of a task instead of waiting for results to inculcate a habit of discipline. She says in the post. “Discipline helps to explain why bodybuilders say that exercise is its own reward.” The athlete ends the post by quoting Arnold Schwarzenegger, “If you don’t find the time, if you don’t do the work, you don’t get the results.” Not just kind in words, the old bodybuilder is also kind in actions.

The fit grandma also chooses to donate blood

Tammy Kearn also believes in giving back to society. She has donated about 12.5+ gallons of blood as of now. In a November 2022 post, Kearn penned about her 101st donation, “An easy way to give back to your community and help save lives is to donate regularly.

She suggests taking a lot of fluids after donating blood and starting training after 24 hours. Her Instagram profile also reflects that the bodybuilder loves working out with her young grandson.
