Retirements are always hurtful in the realm of sports. Mostly bodybuilder retires because of their health, injuries, and when they reach a certain age. Jay Cutler, a big name in the bodybuilding world, has also retired because of an acute injury. However, recently, Mamdouh Mohammed Hassan Elssbiay, who won two Mr. Olympia titles in a row (2020 and 2021) took the internet by storm with an announcement that he would not take part in the upcoming show.
The entire bodybuilding community was stunned by his decision. However, according to the legends, he’s not in his best shape for a while now, people expected him to win his third title, instead, he placed fifth last year.

The bodybuilding beast talked about Ramy in his latest podcast, which was uploaded to his YouTube channel. A fan asked Cutler, Give us your thoughts on big Romy not competing this year. Why do you think he decided and what do you think his chances are coming back and being able to win?
Cutler said that this news was “kind of shocker,” then he went on adding, “I actually thought he was going to compete.” But the Arabian bodybuilder shocked everyone. Cutler moved to the second half of the question and said, “I’m it’s going to be very difficult and now him not competing this year I think unless he gets in the early shows next year remember he’s Mr. Olympia so he’s qualified for life he can come back in 10 years if he wants.”
The 38-year-old earned a pro card, which is valid for a decade, according to Cutler. The bodybuilding GOAT continued, “Once you step away and you get back into real life it’s, it’s much different and Rami doesn’t need the money, he doesn’t thrive on the fame.” The 50-year-old mentioned that Ramy’s decision will depend on his desire to be back on stage. The bodybuilding icon illustrated that, if he takes a break and watches others compete, seeing someone else win could make it tough for him to want to come back. The break from the sport might take away his competitive spirit.

Big Ramy’s Big announcement
Furthermore, after getting defeated by Hadi Choopan last year. Since then, he has been struggling, receiving criticism for his current physique. In a recent RX Muscle interview, he shared his plans and announced his break from this year’s competition.
In his candid interview with Rx Muscle, he revealed, “I think this year I have to get a break for the show and if I have a chance to come better and I can bring something different, yeah I would be in the next show…I’m not going to be in Olympia this year.”
