Back in 2022, Bodybuilding sensation Quinton Eriya impressed fans with his physique and genetics. The bodybuilder then took a two-year break to improve and put on more muscle to compete in the Open division. He hired Nick Walker’s coach, Matt Jansen, to help him get ready for his much-awaited return. However, things went downhill for Eriya on the 2024 New York Pro stage.

The bodybuilding star finished in sixth place, far behind Nick Walker, who won the contest. Quinton Eriya didn’t just fail to qualify for the Mr. Olympia, fans even thought that he made no improvements despite the prolonged break. Eriya even admitted that he looked worse than how he looked in 2022 and parted ways with Matt Janson. Quint Beastwood now wants to give it another shot without a coach.

“Today I trained back. Very grateful for the way that things transpired this year… The beauty + struggle of prepping yourself is that you don’t have to stick to something, wrote the bodybuilding star. Eriya is preparing to step on the 2024 Toronto Pro Show stage to earn an Olympia qualification. However, he only has a little over a week left.

Eriya has been training on his own and will now enter the peak week phase of his prep. The bodybuilding sensation added that if his body doesn’t feel right, he can skip a particular element of training without having to worry about a coach. This might be a reference to the excessive cardio that Matt Jansen made Eriya do on a regular basis.

He also explained that there is a fine line between feeling over-trained vs. being lazy. So, Eriya is now regularly tracking his progress. The legs seem to be filling out better with the consecutive high (calorie) days and no cardio, wrote the bodybuilding competitor. Meanwhile, Matt Jansen didn’t blame Quint Beastwood for his lackluster performance.

The renowned bodybuilding coach took responsibility

Matt Jansen had much to stay about Quint Beastwood’s performance in New York on 23rd May. While the bodybuilding coach helped Nick Walker make a triumphant return to the stage, he was disappointed with Eriya’s performance. Did Q, deliver on what he and I expected this weekend? No absolutely not. Was that his fault, absolutely not, wrote Jansen.

Jansen added that despite their best effort he couldn’t help the bodybuilding prodigy reach his full potential. However, Nick Walker’s coach also promised to stand by the bodybuilder and help him improve. However, the coach won’t get that opportunity after Quint Beastwood announced on his Instagram story that he won’t be working with Jansen in the future.

While Quinton Eriya couldn’t achieve his goal in New York, the bodybuilder is determined to improve. However, only time will tell if coaching himself was the right move to make.
